Vanessa Coterel

As a member of the Office of Institutional Equity’s ADA Team, Vanessa Coterel serves as the Deputy ADA Coordinator and Director of the Digital Accessibility Center. A 2002 graduate of Moritz College of Law, Vanessa returned to OSU in July 2022 from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights where since 2010 she conducted compliance reviews and investigations, resolved complaints, and monitored the implementation of corrective action plans. In 2019 she joined the Department’s National Digital Access Team, focusing her reviews and investigations on the accessibility of digital information and services in K-12 and postsecondary education. Throughout her career she has emphasized equity in education from her work as an attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Columbus and Disability Rights Ohio to teaching a disability law practicum at the Moritz of College of Law with Professor Ruth Colker.
