Multiple Perspectives on Access, Inclusion, and Disability
Annual Conference

CALL FOR STUDENT POSTERS Proposals are due March 21, 2008.

The Eighth Annual Multiple Perspectives conference continues the university’s efforts to bring together a diverse audience to explore disability as an individual experience and social reality that cuts across typical disciplinary divisions. This year's theme "looking back and thinking ahead" is meant to encourage presenters and participants to consider topics, methods and programs from fresh perspectives.

Two decades ago Congress investigated the status of individuals with disabilities in society. Their findings led to the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act in 1990. How relevant are those findings today? As we approach the second decade under the ADA Congress is taking stock with the ADA Restoration Act. What is the status of disability? Graduate and undergraduate posters addressing the themes of Access, Inclusion, and Disability are sought for the Eighth Annual Multiple Perspectives Conference.

Posters can take several forms:

  • Print material mounted on poster board or display panels or arranged on a table
  • PowerPoint, web page or video presentation from laptop (10 minute length recommended)
  • Presentation materials must fit on a 3' x 6' table or along 6' or less of wall space
  • Presenters must provide their own equipment

Posters are being solicited to represent the broad interdisciplinary approaches to disability. Awards and recognition will be given at the undergraduate and graduate level in four categories:

  • Class Projects & Papers
  • Independent student research (independent study, thesis, grant sponsored or dissertation)
  • Community Service, Outreach, and Applied Problem Solving
  • Art & Performance
